  • What is a postpartum doula?
A postpartum doula provides emotional, physical, and practical support during the fourth trimester, which is the first few weeks after birth. My role is to help you rest, recover, and bond with your baby by offering nurturing care, nourishing meals, gentle newborn guidance, and holistic support. With Beyond Bump Mamas, this support is deeply rooted in Ayurvedic wisdom, honoring your unique healing journey.
  • How is Ayurvedic postpartum care different from other postpartum doula support?
Ayurvedic care is based on ancient healing principles from India that prioritize warmth, rest, and nourishment after birth. In practice, this means warm oil massage, grounding rituals, gentle herbal teas and foods, and space for emotional integration. While traditional doulas may help with newborn care or basic recovery, I focus on healing your whole being using traditional cultural wisdom tailored to postpartum wellness.
  • Do you offer virtual services?
Yes! I offer virtual consultations, postpartum planning sessions, and guidance around Ayurvedic nutrition and healing practices for families outside my in-person service area. This is a beautiful way to receive personalized support wherever you are.
  • What's included in a postpartum visit?
Each in-person visit (typically up to 4 hours) is tailored to your needs and may include: Ayurvedic meal preparation Herbal tea, bath or yoni steam setup Oil massage or warming therapies Emotional processing and space-holding Newborn care support Light household help Creating a peaceful, restful space for healing You'll never be rushed. This is sacred time just for you.
  • What areas do you serve?
I'm based in Phoenix, Arizona and serve surrounding areas including Tempe, Mesa, Scottsdale and Chandler. I also occasionally accept clients in Northern Arizona in areas such as Payson, Flagstaff, Sedona, and Prescott. Please reach out if you are located in Arizona and do not see your location listed. I may be able to accommodate you or offer virtual options.
  • What is placenta encapsulation?
Placenta encapsulation is the process of preparing the placenta after birth by steaming, dehydrating, and grinding it, then placing it into capsules for consumption. Many parents choose this practice to support energy levels, mood balance, milk production, and hormonal recovery during the postpartum period. It's an ancient tradition used in cultures around the world, and one I approach with respect and cleanliness.
  • What are the benefits of placenta encapsulation?
While scientific research is still limited, thousands of families share from personal experiences that placenta capsules help: Balance postpartum hormones Reduce the risk of baby blues or mood swings Support milk supply Boost iron levels Enhance postpartum energy Every body is different, but many parents feel that it contributes to a more gentle postpartum recovery.
  • What methods do you use for encapsulation?
I offer the Traditional Chinese Method (TCM), where the placenta is gently steamed with warming herbs (I use ginger, lemon, and a bit of jalapeno) before dehydration. This method aligns beautifully with Ayurvedic principles focusing on warmth, nourishment and gentle care for your body's healing.
  • How is your placenta encapsulation different?
Beyond using the Traditional Chinese Medicine method for preparing your placenta capsules, I also use the most natural process possible to maximize your healing benefits. Here are some steps I take to do so: Only using vegan, unflavored capsules: to keep what's going in your body clean. Not using unnecessary plastics in the steaming, dehydrating or encapsulating process. Avoiding use of any unnatural dyes or flavoring in your placenta prints or capsules. I am committed to providing you the cleanest capsules to protect your health and healing. I carefully follow food safety guidelines for additional safety and care.
  • How should I prepare for a postpartum closure ceremony or postpartum visit?
Spend the day prior to my arrival completing the journal prompts, reflecting on your postpartum chapter thus far, and staying in your cocoon away from the outside world. Enjoy nourishing whole foods and warm meals. Create comfort, warmth and calm in your space. Wear comfortable clothes, let household tasks wait for later and allow yourself to fully receive and be present. I will bring everything else we need for your comfort and healing in this beautiful ceremony.
  • What is a postpartum closure ceremony?
A postpartum closure ceremony is a gentle, sacred ritual to honor your birth journey and support emotional and energetic integration. It often includes: Herbal foot soak, bath, or yoni steam Guided journal prompts for before and after the ceremony Customized guided meditation Rebozo wrapping Ayurvedic oil massage Herbal tea and/or nourishing snacks This ceremony is a chance for you to be seen, held, and celebrated as you transition into this new chapter of motherhood.
  • How much does postpartum care cost?
My services range from $250 (for placenta encapsulation) to $4,680 (for six weeks of premium ayurvedic care), with options for single visits and payment plans. Each package includes heart-centered care, herbal blends, meal preparation, newborn and postpartum education, healing rituals, and hands-on support, which are designed to fully honor your postpartum healing.
  • Do you offer payment plans?
Yes! Most packages can be split into 2 to 4 payments, starting at $675. You can begin your healing journey without paying the full amount upfront. Just reach out and we'll find a payment option that feels supportive, not overwhelming.
  • Can I book just one visit to see if this type of support is for me?
Absolutely. You can book a single 4-hour postpartum visit for $300, which includes personalized care, gentle support, and Ayurvedic nourishment. This is a beautiful way to receive healing support or decide if you'd like to continue with a full package. Note: I am often booked up to 7 months in advance, please keep in mind that single sessions will be subject to availability, and I cannot guarantee that I will be available for a full package after the session. If possible, I like to do a postpartum prep session before baby arrives to help you plan and understand Ayurveda prior to our first session.
  • Do you take insurance or HSA/FSA?
While I do not work directly with insurance providers, many clients have successfully used HSA or FSA funds for postpartum doula care. If you need itemized invoices for reimbursement, please ask!
  • Are your digital guides instant downloads?
Yes! All digital products (like my Postpartum Plan Template, Ayurvedic Cookbooks, and First 42 Days Guide) are available as instant downloads after purchase. You'll receive a link right away and can access them anytime.
